Our First Weekend in Business

It's been a hectic weekend since we went live on Saturday afternoon. Lots of tweaks to make, little things to iron out. I wanted to thank the people who jumped onboard right away and started generating pages of content; you were are first real "beta testers" and you've helped us a great deal. Lots of emails went out over the weekend to friends and family, and we're now waiting with a wee bit of anticipation as those people check out the site for the first time and start experimenting with it. More emails still have to go out, which is our second "marketing effort" if you will, after this blog. This blog was launched a few months ago to start generating awareness and interest in IGotNewsForYou.com. I think it worked quite well, and it's a testament to the need for a business blog. Without it I wouldn't have had the same ability to connect with a great number of people that I reached out to or reached out to me (many of whom are linked on the left-hand side), particularly those with other humor/satire blogs. The emails to friends and family is our way of "seeding" awareness of IGotNewsForYou.com. Each person we tell about it will hopefully send a few pages to other people, thus telling them about it. Those people in turn send pages to others, and so on. Hopefully we see a snowball-rolling-down-a-hill effect... In the meantime, press releases are going out over the Internet to start, including our first one about the launch. I've published the release on NewsVine and it goes out on PRWeb on Wednesday. More releases and PR strategies will follow. It's been a wild ride so far; but I fully expect it to get even wilder and more interesting going forward. When starting a business there's no time to really sit back and say, "Wow, nice job. We did it." I'm not one for sitting on my laurels anyway, but there's no harm in congratulating yourself for getting the business up and running...now comes the hard part...actually succeeding.
