Testing the IGotNewsForYou RSS Feed. Sorry About This (Darn Blogger)

Last week I was trying to move this blog to WordPress. In the process of doing that I published the blog to Blogger's hosting at "blogspot" thinking I would use that as an archive of my posts while I replace this blog with the WordPress one. I realized during the process that for now at least, I can't move to WordPress. So I switched the publishing back to FTP'ing the content of the blog to this URL. Two things happened: 1. I realized that the blog at blogspot was still there and I can't figure out how to delete it! If anyone knows how please let me know. Blogger has been totally unresponsive and no one has answered by question in the Blogger Help forums. 2. My feed stopped working. It looks like when I made the move to publishing the blog at blogspot, the feed changed its URL as well. So I've been posting new content since May 26th but I noticed it wasn't being picked up by the feed. Today I panicked and looked into it in more detail and hopefully I've solved the problem. So this is mostly a test to see if the feed is working correctly (as well as a general grumbling complaint about Blogger *sigh*)

I have a good bit of experience dealing with wordpress so if you have any questions there I may, or may not, be able to help. Wordpress does require some back end support that not all hosts provide so if that is an issue there isn't anything I know that can be done.

As for deleting a blog and blogspot it's almost impossible to do, at least it was back when I was trying to do it. You can go through all of the buttons and it will say it's been deleted but it's all still there and I don't know how one deals with that.

As for feed issues, I highly recommend getting set up with feedburner.

Hey Tommy,

Thanks for the offer. Setting up WordPress wasn't the problem, the problem is that my hosting package currently doesn't support PHP.

For this site I need ASP.NET hosting which often doesn't come with PHP support. When we first setup the hosting we didn't think about the move to WordPress, so PHP support wasn't a high priority.

Eventually I'll probably switch hosts and find somewhere that can support both, and then move to WordPress.

The Blogger/blogspot issue is frustrating. I think I'll republish the whole blog at blogspot with a message that says, "Go to the real blog" and then come back to publishing here and hopefully that steers people in this direction.

And the feed IS using FeedBurner! Aren't you subscribed to it? *grin*

I'm subscribed to it, but I subscribe through sage which filters out the feedburner end of it so I don't see it.

So I never know where it comes from, just if it's valid.

Phew. At least you're getting the feed! *grin*

Tommy...when are you sending in some more stories to the contest? *smile*

I've never heard of Sage...I use FeedDemon which I quite like though.

And I'll probably be knocking on your door in the future if/when I switch to WordPress.
