Tomorrow is My Father's Birthday, And Montreal Starts Its Festival Season
My dad turns 29 tomorrow. At least in his mind.
Happy Birthday!
Buying gifts isn't my forte, but luckily my wife knows what she's doing. She gave me the idea of getting my dad tickets to a show at the Just for Laughs Festival in Montreal, which starts July 1st, 2006. So I did.
The Just for Laughs Festival is only one of many festivals that take place yearly in Montreal. Many Montrealers call this time (from mid-June or so through mid-August) "Festival Season", and with good reason. Upcoming festivals include:
- Jazz Festival (June 29-July 9)
- Just for Laughs Festival (July 1-July 31)
- Blues Festival (August 10-13)
- Fringe Festival (June 8-18)
- Pee in the Street Festival
- The Lament at Not Being in the NHL Playoffs Anymore Festival
- Montreal Highland Games (this one isn't a joke)
- Sleep with Random People Festival
Actually, Montreal.com has a great listing of all the upcoming festivals. There's something for everyone, particularly if you're a comedy-loving, jazz-enthusiast Scot, who likes to pee in the street, misses hockey and sleeps around. Sounds like I'm describing just about everyone no?
